Wray Basketball lost both their games to Goodland last night in day 1 of the Topside Tipoff in Goodland, KS. The girls lost their game, 55-30. The first half was mostly close, with Wray trailing 13-11 at the start of the 2nd quarter before Goodland proceeded to outscore the Lady Eagles 39-10 over the next 2 quarters to turn the game on its head. Meanwhile, the boys lost their game 75-44. The first quarter was close and saw Goodland leading 18-14 before they dominated the 2nd quarter 20-5 to lead at halftime 38-19, and Wray tried to chip away at the deficit in the 3rd before Goodland heated up from 3 to rebuild their lead and then some. Wray Basketball will play again in the Topside Tipoff tonight with the girls taking on McCook at 6pm and the boys taking on Burlington at 8pm. Tomorrow, the girls will play against either Ulysses or Lakin at 11am regardless of their results tonight, and the boys will play against either Colby or McCook at 3pm with a win tonight and 1pm with a loss tonight. Wray Boys Wrestling dominated Yuma in their dual last night 62-18. The Eagles won 7 of the 10 matches that were played, including 6 pins. The boys will wrestle in the Colby, KS tournament today at 1pm and tomorrow at 8:30am.
Wray Girls Wrestling came in 9th place in their tournament yesterday in Colby, KS. Gabby Aguilar and Lauren Gdanitz both had 3rd place finishes individually for Wray. The girls will next wrestle in a tournament in McCook, NE on Thursday.
