Wray Basketball suffered a pair of losses to Yuma on Saturday to open their season, with the girls falling 52-51 and the boys losing 70-65. For the girls, Wray fell behind by as many as 12 points in the 2nd half and entered the 4th quarter down by 10, but was able to come all the way back and take the lead late, but came up just short. Dori Saffer and Sydnee Cheek led Wray with 29 points combined. For the boys, Wray came out with an early double-digit lead in the first before Yuma heated up from 3, able to go into halftime trailing by 2 and the going into the 4th quarter tied when the Outlaws went on a quick 7-2 run to start the 4th quarter and maintain the slim lead for the rest of the way. Rafael Trejo scored 28 points for Wray. Wray Basketball will play in the Topside Tipoff tournament in Goodland, KS on Thursday through Saturday.
Wray Boys Wrestling finished in 2nd place in their Saturday tournament in St Francis, KS. Austin Collins and Eric Tracy both had 1st place finishes individually, and there were also 2nd place finishes from Austin Snapp, Andrew Buoy, and Samuel Meisner. Wray Boys Wrestling will take on Yuma in a dual on Thursday, and then will be in a tournament in Colby, KS on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, Wray Girls Wrestling will be in a tournament in Colby, KS on Thursday.
