The 2024 wrestling state tournament was on Thursday through Saturday at Ball Arena in Denver. The Wray Eagles finished closely in 3rd place behind Meeker and Cedaredge despite wrestling with at least 3 fewer wrestlers than those teams. The Eagles had 6 of their 8 wrestlers place, with Andrew Buoy and Eric Tracy both finishing in 6th, Casey Midcap and Tavery Chappell both finishing in 2nd, and Austin Collins and Samuel Meisner both won their first individual state championships. Congratulations to the boys for their great season and great showing in the state tournament.
Wray Basketball is in the district tournament this week. In the quarterfinals tomorrow, the boys will host Caliche at 6pm, while the girls will travel to Akron and play at 5:30pm. Live coverage of the girls game at Akron will be on KRDZ. The semifinals and the 1st place games will be at NJC in Sterling on Friday and Saturday, where the tournament winners will host the regional tournament next weekend.
