Wray Boys Wrestling had a busy weekend. On Friday, they took on defending 5A champion Pomona and defending 3A champion Eaton in dual matchups, with Pomona winning 67-9 and Eaton winning 39 to 33. On Saturday, they wrestled in the Richard Urano tournament in Eaton, a round-robin tournament which was not scored as a team and featured varsity and JV wrestlers. Wray got 1st place finishes individually from Jaden DePue, Austin Collins, Samuel Meisner, Casey Midcap, and Tavery Chappell, with each wrestler winning all of their matches on pins or technical falls. Wray Wrestling will be in the regional tournaments on Friday and Saturday, with the boys heading to Akron and the girls heading to Ft. Lupton.


Wray Basketball was in action on Friday and Saturday. On Friday against Limon, the girls lost in a tough nail-biter in overtime, 58-54, while the boys were able to get a stop at the buzzer and win in a 64-63 thriller. On Saturday, both teams blew out Haxtun, with the girls winning 49-35 on a strong 3rd quarter and the boys winning 73-38 with overall dominating play. Wray Basketball will take on Sedgwick County on Friday and Heritage Christian on Saturday.
