KRDZ Sports Update 01/22/24

Wray Basketball came away with a pair of wins at Holyoke on Friday. For the girls, they dominated their game 72-38. It was a high scoring first quarter, 24-16 for Wray, but the girls turned up their defensive intensity from there and outscored Holyoke 48-22 the rest of the way.  Wray was led by Sydnee Cheek's 14 points and 4 steals. For the boys, they held on for a close 49-41 win. Wray threatened to pull away several times in the second half, but Holyoke stayed close and was never able to regain the lead. Wray got a combined 33 points from Rafael Trejo and AB Ruiz. Wray Basketball will take on Yuma on Friday.


Wray Boys Wrestling was in Lexington, NE for a tournament on Saturday. The boys finished in 12th place, with a 1st place finish from Austin Collins, a 4th place finish from Tavery Chappell, and 5th place finishes for Samuel Meisner and Andrew Buoy. Wray Boys Wrestling will wrestle against Sedgwick County-Fleming in a dual tomorrow.


Wray Girls Wrestling was in a tournament in St. Francis, KS on Saturday. The girls finished in 11th place, with 3rd place finishes from Gabby Aguilar and Angela Escamilla. Wray Girls Wrestling will wrestle against Hoxie, KS in a dual on Thursday.
