Congratulations to the Wiggins Tigers, the 2023 2A State Volleyball Champions. The Lady Tigers had to battle for five sets to dethrone two time defending champion Sedgwick County Cougars (3-2) on Saturday night. Senior Tyleigh Fehseke led the Tiger offense with 33 kills unofficially and totaled 85 over the weekend. Fehseke broke the school record for kills in a season and ended her senior campaign with 472. She also holds the school record for kills in a career with 1,248. Congratulations to the Wiggins Lady Tigers on their second title in school history and second in the last 4 seasons.
The last four titles in Class 1A now belong to the Merion Rams. Merino beat Simla for the second time over the weekend in three sets to win their fourth straight 1A crown. The Weldon Valley Warriors played well in their first trip to the state tournament since 2018. The Lady Warriors finished the weekend (2-2), with wins over Idalia and Kit Carson, and lost to McClave and Haxtun.
