KFTM Sports Update 10/6/23

Brush sent just ten batters to the plate in a (16-0) three inning loss to the top ranked Eaton Reds yesterday afternoon. The Reds collected 15 hits which included a pair of home runs, a solo shot to lead off the game, and a grand slam from Saddie Ross. The Lady Diggers finish out the regular season (11-12) and are headed to the postseason. Brush holds at number 15 in the current rankings, which will put them on the road when regional brackets are released on Monday. Regional tournaments set for next Saturday October 14th.

The Thompson Valley Eagles continued to soar and remained unbeaten in league play with a three set sweep over Fort Morgan last night. The Eagles are a perfect (6-0) and have yet to drop a set within the Longs Peak League. The Lady Mustangs are at the Greeley West tournament starting at 8am tomorrow morning.

In some Thursday night football, Brush earned their second straight lopsided victory and took down the Tigers in Sterling (41-13). Ritchie Bruno was the workhorse for the Diggers and had a touchdown hat-trick with 3 scores for Brush. The Diggers are again on a Thursday night next week and entertain the Weld Central Rebels at 7pm.

Wiggins and Weldon Valley make up tonight's light local Friday schedule. Lady Tiger volleyball hosts Holyoke at 4pm, and football takes on the Dragons in a big North Central league matchup at 7pm. For the Warriors, football against Fleming is up first at 3pm, with volleyball to follow at 5pm.

Coming up tomorrow afternoon, Fort Morgan football returns after their bye week, and open at league play at the Lincoln Lancers.
