At the May 5th Logan County Republican Central Committee meeting, Sterling Livestock Commission owner Jim Santomaso was selected to serve the remainder of Jerry Sonnenberg’s unexpired term as Logan County Commissioner. Due to Sonnenberg accepting the position of Director of the Farm Service Agency’s Colorado offices, he resigned as commissioner on Wednesday, April 30th.
Santomaso was sworn in as Logan County Commissioner on May 6th. There have been numerous committees that Jim Santomaso has served on for the Livestock Marketing Association, including 2 terms on the Colorado Beef Council, the Board of Directors for the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, and he has also been President of the Livestock Marketing Association as well. He was inducted into the Cattle Marketing Hall of Fame in 2022, and, along with his wife Becky, was named Logan County Fair Parade Marshals in 2023. He has been part of many annual fund-raising auctions, and resources have been donated from the Sterling Livestock Commission for the Junior Livestock Auction, as part of the Logan County Fair.
