Holyoke Police Department - INFORMATION ABOUT ILLEGAL SPILLING
Recently, a recurring problem has emerged where residents have been dumping tree branches, weeds, trash, and other objects at the Holyoke Municipal Lawn Landfill. Misinformation may have been circulating that has led residents to believe that this practice is allowed. Through this informational notice, we inform you that this practice is illegal, contradicts both state laws and municipal ordinances, and has not been approved by the Municipal Council. We ask residents to put an end to this practice and to, in this place, be limited to only depositing grass, as indicated in the signs. All other items need to be disposed of at the Phillips County Sanitation Landfill.
A surveillance camera has been installed at the site. The city will forward vehicle information to the Police Department, and offenders will be issued a citation for unlawful dumping. This offense entails a fine of up to $300.00. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the City of Holyoke.
