Greeley Police investigate train/pedestrian collision near the Highway 34 - Highway 85 interchange

In a press release from the Greeley Police Department, they are investigating a deadly train-pedestrian collision reported Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026.
Officers responded around 6 a.m. to railroad tracks south of the Highway 34 and Highway 85 interchange after a Union Pacific train struck a pedestrian.
Police say the conductor saw an adult man walking north along the tracks and sounded the train’s horn. The man initially moved to the side but then returned to the tracks and into the train’s path.
The victim, tentatively identified as a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office will release his identity after notifying his family.
