UPDATE: According to CDOT's website, cotrip.org, SB I-25 reopened following the crash being cleared before 10:45 am on Monday morning. Traffic flow improving by the minute. Currently it is confoirmed that one person died in the crash, with no other information available for now.
PRESS RELEASE: Colorado State Patrol - On Monday, March 9, 2026, around 5:55 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on southbound I-25 at milepost 243, approaching Longmont/Lyons in a Construction Zone.
The crash involved a Ford Super Duty pickup truck and a work van. The Ford Pickup truck rolled over.
The male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead on the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Weld County Coroner after the next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the work van had no report of injuries.
There is an unknown timeframe for reopening all southbound lanes. Check COtrip.org for real-time updates on road status.
The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
