Farmers in 3 States Are Done Planting Corn, USDA Says

On Monday, the USDA published the 10th Crop Progress report of the 2026 growing season. Here’s a look at the latest progress and condition numbers.
Corn
As of June 7, 97% of this year’s corn crop has been planted in the top 18 corn-growing states, according to the USDA. That’s just ahead of the five-year average of 96%.
Farmers in Kentucky, Nebraska, and North Carolina are done planting corn.
The USDA said 86% of the nation's corn crop has emerged, which is level with the five-year average.
The condition of the nation's corn crop for the week that ended June 7 was as follows:
Good/excellent: 67%
Fair: 27%
Poor/very poor: 6%
Soybeans
As of June 7, 92% of the soybean crop in the nation’s top 18 soybean-growing states was in the ground. That’s ahead of the five-year average of 88%.
The USDA said 79% of the nation's soybean crop has emerged, which is ahead of the five-year average of 71%.
The condition of the nation's soybean crop for the week that ended June 7 was as follows:
Good/excellent: 65%
Fair: 29%
Poor/very poor: 6%
Winter Wheat
The USDA reported 92% of the winter wheat crop across the top 18 states has headed as of June 7. The five-year average is 85%.
As of June 7, 11% of the nation's winter wheat crop across eight of the top 18 states had been harvested, ahead of the five-year average of 6%
Winter wheat condition for the week that ended June 7 was as follows:
Good/excellent: 25%
Fair: 29%
Poor/very poor: 46%
Last week at this time, 26% of the crop was in good/excellent condition. Last year at this time, 54% of the crop was in good/excellent condition.
Spring Wheat
In the top six spring-wheat-growing states, 98% of the spring wheat crop has been planted, ahead of the five-year average of 95%.
Across the six states, 87% of the spring wheat crop had emerged as of June 7, ahead of the five-year average of 80%.
The condition of the nation's spring wheat crop for the week that ended June 7 was as follows:
Good/excellent: 52%
Fair: 42%
Poor/very poor: 6%
Oats
Across the nine top oat-growing states, 95% of the crop has emerged, according to the USDA. That’s ahead of the five-year average of 90%.
USDA said 39% of the oat crop has headed, ahead of the five-year average of 36%.
The oat crop condition for the week that ended June 7 was as follows:
Good/excellent: 47%
Fair: 34%
Poor/very poor: 19%
