A pit bull mix named Raya is recovering at the Logan County Humane Society after arriving at the shelter with a gunshot wound that required the amputation of her front leg. Shelter staff faced a difficult decision between euthanasia or surgery but chose to give her a chance at life.
The Veterinary Medical Clinic in Sterling performed the successful procedure, and Raya is now healing, adjusting to life as a three-legged dog. She still needs to be spayed and complete physical therapy before becoming available for adoption.
Described as friendly and affectionate, Raya has already captured the hearts of shelter workers. Donations through GoFundMe are helping cover her medical costs and support other animals in need.
