Northbound Interstate 25 was closed near Fort Collins following a crash involving two semitrailers early Wednesday morning.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the closure stretched from Exit 271 at Mountain Vista Drive to Colorado 1 near Wellington — about a seven-mile stretch of highway.
The Colorado State Patrol says troopers responded to the crash just after 5:20 a.m. near milepost 275, south of Wellington.
Investigators say both trucks were traveling northbound when the crash happened. The cause is still under investigation.
The collision also sparked a small brush fire in the median, but crews quickly put it out. No vehicles caught fire, and no injuries have been reported.
Both directions of I-25 were temporarily shut down, but the southbound lanes reopened as of 7 am, according to a press release from the Colorado State Patrol. The northbound lanes remained closed for cleanup and investigation. According to CDOT's webpage, the northbound side reopened around 10;45 am.
