Colorado House Minority Leader Rose Pugliese has resigned her seat effective immediately.
In a letter to supporters, the Colorado Springs Republican described the Statehouse as “toxic” after last week’s special session and her falling out with Democratic leaders over how she handled inappropriate conduct in her caucus. She wrote that the atmosphere had become “sad and disappointing” and said she had no choice but to step down.
Pugliese says she’ll return to Mesa County with her two young children, calling family her top priority. She took over GOP leadership in 2024 after Mike Lynch stepped aside and is the second Republican legislative leader to resign this year.
House Republicans are expected to meet soon to choose her replacement.
