City of Fort Morgan's Light & Power Department earns two awards from the APPA

PRESS RELEASE: The City of Fort Morgan’s Light and Power Department has earned two awards from the

American Public Power Association (APPA): The Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)

Platinum award and the 2025 Diamond APPA Safety Award of Excellence.

These prestigious awards are presented to community-owned public power utilities that

demonstrate proficient and competent practices in the categories of reliability, safety,

workforce development, and system improvement.

With a score of 94.5, the City of Fort Morgan’s Light and Power Department is one of

258 recipients out of 2,000 public power utilities nationwide to receive an RP3

designation.

As a 2025 Diamond APPA Safety Award of Excellence recipient, the City of Fort

Morgan Light and Power Department and supportive staff scored over 90 points.

Demonstrating their continued commitment to performance, employee safety, and

reliability.

“Being recognized on a national level for our efforts to power the community is truly a

great honor,” said Doug Linton, Director of Utilities for Fort Morgan. “These awards are

a reflection of the dedication and hard work of city staff working together to provide Fort

Morgan with a safe and reliable service.”
