Brush resident advised on charges, receives a combined $1million cash/surety bond

Brush Police Department – On April 7, 2025, the Brush P.D. received two Safe2Tell (an anonymous reporting system) reports concerning behavior with teenage boys by 40-year-old Luis Cardenas of Brush. Brush officers, along with investigators from the 13th District Attorney’s Office, spent the next several months investigating several allegations, interviewing multiple witnesses and potential victims, and conducting digital forensics.
The investigation uncovered two juvenile boys who came forward and said they were victims of Cardenas. The case was then separated into two cases, due to one incident happening last year, and one happening this year. Recently, two arrest warrants were sign for Cardenas. The first arrest warrant was for Sexual Assault on a Child/position of trust, and the second warrant is for Sexual Assault on a Child, and Sexual Assault on a Child/position of trust. On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Brush P.D. Officers located and arrested Cardenas on these two warrants. On Friday, November 28th, he was advised on his charges and received a $500,000 cash/surety bond on each case, totaling $1,000,000.
