The grocery store in Anton has new ownership after more than two decades. The Odell family, who operated Anton Supers for over 20 years, has officially handed the business over to Craig and Cherylee Parker. The store reopened under its new name, Anton Grocery, on November 5.

Cherylee had been working for the Odell family when she learned in June that Kirk Supers would be closing. That same day, she and her husband Craig began discussing the possibility of purchasing the Kirk location. About a month later, the Odells approached them with an offer to buy the Anton store instead, and the couple decided to move forward.

The Parkers have strong ties to the area. Craig was born and raised in Akron, taught at Lone Star School, and now works for Case IH. Cherylee is originally from Utah, where she spent more than eight years working as a pig farmer before moving to Akron in 2012. She later worked as a bank teller, and both Craig and Cherylee have experience in the insurance industry, with Craig operating an Allstate agency in Littleton for several years.

Cherylee brings direct experience in grocery retail from her time at Anton Supers. She says owning the store has been a longtime dream, joking that she used to tell customers to buy her a share if they ever won the lottery.

Customers can expect the same offerings Anton Supers provided, with plans to expand hot and ready food options—something the Parkers say will benefit harvest crews and travelers passing through town. Their goal is to position Anton Grocery as a “store of convenience,” a place where locals can pick up staples like milk and eggs while also grabbing lunch or a quick snack.

The Parkers say they’re grateful for the community support and are excited to continue working with their existing staff. Jessica Smith has been with the store for three and a half years, Alex Shapiro for about two years, and Zack Gifford for one and a half years.

They’re even considering a new name for the store and are open to suggestions, possibly through a naming contest.
