A Colorado man flees a traffic stop - Chase County Sheriff's Office Deputies pursue

Chase County Sheriff’s Office – On Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2:39 p.m., a Chase County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was patrolling West of Imperial on Highway 6 when he observed a dark-colored sedan traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed above the posted speed limit of 65 MPH.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle identified as a black Ford Fusion with no license plate. The Ford continued eastbound, showing no signs of stopping and eventually speeding up.
Another Deputy was further East on Highway 6 and had stop sticks set up waiting for the pursuit to reach him before it entered Imperial.
Imperial Police Department Officers, we also set up at the North end of Broadway St. The driver of the Ford was able to swerve around the stop sticks.
The Ford continued through Imperial going and onto Spur 15A, where they continued to Champion the Southern part of Chase County.
The Ford worked its way back to Imperial via county roads. Spike strips were successfully deployed before they were able to get to Imperial.
The pursuit continued through Imperial and East on Highway 6 when the vehicle went off-road into numerous fields, eventually ending up back in Imperial.
After continuing through the streets and yards in Imperial, the vehicle was finally stopped at the intersection of East 3rd St and Highway 61 in Imperial.
The driver, 25-year-old Brian Foster of Denver, Colorado, and passenger Michelle Marie Fernandez, 25 years old from Florida, were both taken into custody without any further incident.
It was determined that the Ford Fusion had been reported stolen.
The driver was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges will likely be added as the investigation continues. The driver is also wanted out of Colorado for multiple felony charges.
