Authorities in Weld County arrested a man early Monday morning after he allegedly burglarized the Weld County Public Health Department in Greeley.

The incident began around 7:17 A.M., when deputies responded to reports of a man running through the building at 1555 North 17th Avenue. Witnesses said a door had been propped open, allowing the suspect inside.

Deputies secured a perimeter and began a search with K-9 units, though some offices could not be checked immediately because employees were working inside. Officers found signs that several offices had been disturbed, with items scattered across the floors.

Around 8:30 A.M., the search initially came up empty. But a second call shortly after revealed the suspect sleeping under a desk in a previously locked office. Authorities identified him as 62-year-old Michael Jackson and took him into custody.

Jackson faces multiple charges, including second-degree burglary, petty theft, criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal tampering. No employees or deputies were injured, and officials say there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that these are allegations, and Jackson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
