UPDATE: FATAL CRASH HAS NOW CLAIMED FOUR LIVES AS DRIVER OF SUV DIES OVER THE WEEKEND -CRASH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

In an update from the Colorado State Patrol, there is now a fourth victim of the fatal crash in Weld County from Saturday, July 25th, as the 20-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe passed away over the weekend. All four young men were identified. The young men lost their lives in the fatal crash on Saturday, July 25th. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the single-vehicle wreck happened on Weld County Road 80 at Weld County Road 39, east of Ault, in Weld County at approximately 5:18 pm.

The 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe carrying five males was traveling at a high rate of speed on the westbound side of WCR 80, veered off the right side of the road at WCR 39, lost control, came back on the road, and rolled several times. All occupants of the vehicle were ejected.

The other three male occupants were pronounced dead at the scene: a 19-year-old male passenger from Eaton, a 20-year-old passenger from Eaton, and a 19-year-old male passenger from Greeley. The driver, a 20-year-old from Wyoming, was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries and died this past weekend. Another 19-year-old passenger from Eaton suffered minor injuries.

As the investigation continues, troopers are looking closely at impairment as a factor in this crash. Crash investigators found open and closed alcoholic beverages in the vehicle at the scene of the crash. The cause of this crash is undetermined and remains under investigation.

This crash is being investigated by the Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit.
