Severe Weather Hits NE Colorado

Severe weather season has started in Colorado, as folks on the eastern plains found out Thursday afternoon (4/25), as a tornado touched down about 13 miles southwest of Akron. The twister hit at 3:25pm in Washington County, as 2 storm systems combined with each other making it a bumpy afternoon. It was officially the first severe weather day in the region as there were also reports of hail, lightning and damaging wind gusts. A couple of other tornadoes were reported in rural areas during that afternoon. No reports of major damage with this round of thunderstorms, but it is a reminder to stay informed of the changing weather conditions, especially this time of year.
