It was a decent turnout on Thursday evening at City Hall in Fort Morgan, as the local constituents got a chance to hear from the Morgan County RE-3 School Board candidates as well as the City of Fort Morgan City Council candidates.
The forum was hosted by the local media outlets, Media Logic Radio, The Fort Morgan Times and NE Colorado Broadcasting. The room was a solid half full for both forums, as folks came & went between the 2. The first hour was devoted to questions from the audience, as well as questions from the moderators. Incumbents Rob Carruth, John Prouty and Nancy Hopper were joined by candidates Heath Kuntz, Mindy Smith and Sarah Whitney, fielding questions ranging from proper student discipline to curriculum.
Following a brief break, it was time for the City Council incumbents and prospects to take to the microphones for questions also. Incumbent from Ward 1 Brian Urdiales and challenger Jeff Morford, as well as Loren Boyett & Joel Cismowski, both running for Ward 3, were all joined by unopposed candidates Bill Garcia in Ward 2 and Kevin 'Doc' Lindell for Mayor.
All candidates spoke to their hopes to keep the progress moving forward in growing and developing Fort Morgan, while maintaining that 'thing' that makes this place unique. There was lots of immediate positive feedback from those in attendance, but the one thing that a lot of folks were saying was how important it will be to get out and vote on November 7th.
